Considered as an indicator of economic progress, the steel industry plays an important role in society and has become a potential workforce, sustainability, production and development. SINOBRAS – Siderúrgica Norte Brasil S.A. – the first integrated steelmaker in the North and Northeast regions, has been contributing to this development for 14 years in the state of Pará, in Marabá.
SINOBRAS is part of the Aço Cearense Group, which has more than 40 years of experience in the market, consolidating itself as one of the great industries of Pará, currently employing around 1,300 people directly and generating 16,700 indirect jobs, collaborating with the economic flow and income generation in the region.
With a production capacity of 380 thousand tons of steel and a mix of products sold in all regions of the country, SINOBRAS has a comprehensive operation throughout Brazil and has a specialized and qualified team, in addition to an integrated system that ensures agility in delivery in anywhere and with the best prices on the market. The company has prepared logistics and serves customers by road, coastal and waterway modes. There are an average of 1,300 vehicles handled per month to distribute production to Brazilian states.
In the expansion phase, the company will have a production capacity of 880 thousand tons / year. The investment, called SINOBRAS Phase 2, includes the installation of Lamination 2, with a production capacity of 500 thousand tons / year of rolled steel in coil; a new coil straightening shed; and a new 230kV substation and transmission line, which has the objective of meeting the company’s new electrical load needs and enabling the use of energy from the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant.
SINOBRAS is the largest recycler in the North / Northeast of Brazil, producing steel with 70% scrap and 30% liquid pig iron. Committed to the environment, it has its own supplier of bioenergetic reducer (material used in the production of steel), SINOBRAS Florestal, a company that is also part of the Aço Cearense Group and has 16 own eucalyptus plantations in an area of 35,531 hectares.
Investing in sustainability, SINOBRAS follows the trends of the circular economy, which are based on the principles of eliminating waste and pollution from the beginning of its production process, keeping products in a cycle of use and regenerating natural biological systems. Thus, the company is not limited to reducing the negative impacts caused by the production system, but is committed to a long-term systemic change, creating business opportunities that contribute to environmental, economic and social care.
The company has practices that promote environmental management engaged with the concepts of business sustainability, such as internal reprocessing of co-products in sintering, water recirculation in production processes, sending waste for co-processing in cement plants and sending used oils for re-refining.
The management of atmospheric emissions is also part of the premises of SINOBRAS ‘strategic management, where there is the implementation of process improvements promoting energy efficiency, such as reducing the consumption of electric energy in the production of steel in the electric oven, making use of the energy potential of greenhouse gas. Blast Furnace in the Lamination reheating furnace – replacing LPG, the use of planted forest bioreducer (charcoal) in the production of pig iron, and the planting of forests, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions – contributing GHG in combating climate change.
SINOBRAS is associated with Instituto Aço Brasil, an entity representing Brazilian steel-producing companies. The members operate integrated and semi-integrated plants, offering a wide range of steel products that allow them to fully serve the domestic market and maintain a strong export position, placing the sector among the main generators of trade balance in Brazil.
The company maintains the Network – Innovation and Economic Sustainability, an initiative of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pará (FIEPA), which works with a focus on economic sustainability in the business environment, enhancing the growth and evolution of Pará suppliers, through mapping new investments.
SINOBRAS is also associated with the Commercial and Industrial Association of Marabá – ACIM, a non-profit entity that brings together the business class of the municipality of Marabá – PA, with the main objective of developing and supporting the industrial and commercial sector of the municipality.
